Abstract |
Green algae is a frequently occurring natural phenomenon, and it causes a great deal of damage to aquatic life and human beings. Therefore, it is important to accurately detect and monitor green algae. Most of the methods are based on satellite imagery, which causes time and cost constraints. In this paper, we propose a new green algae detection method based on single image. First, we present a water body extraction algorithm using the local binary pattern, and propose a new green algae detection approach based on a vegetation index, hue and saturation for the extracted water area. We suggest the degree of green algae as a probability value so that anyone can easily determine the presence of green alge. Experimental results show that the detection rate of water body is over 98% and the green algae detection results are superior to those of existing methods. |
