Abstract WR-OFDM system restores BER performance degradation caused by applying window to reduce OOB power. However, the WR-OFDM system has high PAPR (Peak-to-Average Power Ratio) characteristic due to overlapping a lot of subcarriers same as OFDM. The high PAPR degrades BER performance due to HPA (High Power Amplifier) non-linearity and increases OOB(out-of-band) power of the spectrum. In this paper, we apply DFT-s (Discrete Fourier Transform Spreading) technique, known as the PAPR reduction method, to the WR-OFDM system to compare the PAPR, BER performance and the spectrum according to the nonlinear HPA conditions. The Saleh model was used as a nonlinear model and the simulation was performed considering various strength of HPA nonlinearity. Simulation results show that WR-DFT-s-OFDM system exhibits the same spectral characteristics as the WR-OFDM system, but reduces PAPR characteristic and resistants to degradation of BER performance.
