Abstract Modern people who live mainly in enclosed rooms faced the danger of radiation exposure by indoor radon, which has led to the increasing importance of indoor radon detection equipment. The PIN photodiode radon counter, which is often used for indoor radon detection, is influenced by humidity and temperature, but few studies have looked at the effects of relative humidity and temperature changes indoors on the sensitivity of the PIN photodiode radon counter. In this paper, we calculated the sensitivity of the PIN photodiode radon counter under each condition by varying the relative humidity and temperature of the room, and we found that the sensitivity of the PIN photodiode radon counter decreases as the overall relative humidity and temperature increase.
