Abstract |
Millimeter-wave communications have attracted particular interest recently to prepare for rapidly increasing data usage and new application services in the large bandwidth available. An enhanced mobile broadband system is necessitated based on the new radio standards for 5G. The characteristics of the millimeter-wave channel causes a larger path loss than that in the lower frequency band. The multi-cell networks usually suffer inter-cell interference. The study presents a millimeter-wave-based multi-cell multi-user system and proposes joint transmission (JT) with hybrid beamforming to reduce inter-cell interference. The proposed scheme suggests that all the users should be served with analog and digital hybrid beamforming, besides, users located in the cell edge be served with joint transmission. We perform NR-based system level simulation. Simulation results show that compared to the conventional method, the proposed scheme improves the spectral efficiency due to the improvement of the cell edge performance. |
