Abstract |
Wireless sensor nodes have limited resource by using batteries, which is why increasing battery life through low power technology is a major issue. We propose a power management system that leads to less energy consumption in sleep state than the conventional power management systems used in wireless sensor nodes. We analyze the amount of power consumed in Sleep-Idle-Run mode which is a power management mode in a wireless sensor node. To reduce the power for sensor node, we build up five-states power mode designating proper energy consumption according to sensor node's communication schedule. We evaluate the proposed method on a test bench Mica2. As a result, the power is consumed 70% lower than that of the conventional method. Especially, the proposed method can be achieved a large power consumption reduction in a wireless sensor network node with a long sleep mode or short packet data. |
