Abstract |
Various data bus structures can be designed depending on load allocation, size of the board, operation speed, etc. in digital system. Since the data bus is applied on the main communication channels between core devices and various I/O interfaces, its signal transmission characteristics are important for stable operation especially for high reliability system. Signal integrity characteristics of the data bus are mainly dependant on layout design applied on PCB. In this study, four basic data bus structures which can be applied in various systems are designed and its signal integrity characteristics are analyzed by simulations and hardware measurements to suggest design guideline. S-parameters at frequency domain and signal waveforms with eye diagram at time domain are simulated and analyzed for each bus structure. Also time domain signals are measured by oscilloscope on each manufactured hardware board for either communication directions. It is intended to suggest reference guidelines for proper data bus design conveniently in various application through the analyzed results on four designed bus. |
