Abstract |
This article proposes a 60 GHz self-healing image rejection receiver using varactors. In the previous method, the gain is inevitably reduced based on the varactor bias, and the varactor bias also has an irregular tendency in an attempt to improve the mismatch between the gain and the phase, which is difficult to implement in a self-healing way. In this article, we replaced active mixers with resistance mixers in order to reduce the change of the input impedance according to frequencies and designed the receiver focusing on the phase compensation of the varactor tuning circuit. The proposed receiver has been fabricated as MMIC by a commercial 0.15 μm GaAs pHEMT process. It showed a conversion gain of 7.1-13.9 dB and an image rejection ratio more than 20 dB from 56 to 66 GHz. The varactor tuning bias was also adjusted to a total of three biases depending on the frequency interval, making self-healing implementation easier. |
