Abstract In this paper, we study asymmetry of transmission and reception and a method using multimode for an encrypted low-power capsule endoscope digital baseband transceiver. The existing capsule endoscope digital baseband has unnecessary power consumption due to the use of a single frame transmission rate despite the imbalance of transmission and reception. Therefore, we propose a low power capsule endoscope transceiver capable of operating up to 10 fps depending on the location of the capsule endoscope. For the ultra-low power digital baseband, the BCH decoder adopts an early termination technique to reduce 40.59% latency and 43.40% power consumption. The proposed digital baseband shows a total of 10.07uW (@ 0.9V, 10MHz) power consumption. The proposed multimode digital baseband was implemented with Verilog-HDL and synthesized with Samsung 65nm CMOS library.
