Abstract Time-Sensitive Network (TSN) is the technology that provides the deterministic service for time-sensitive traffic in an Ethernet environment providing time-synchronization. In this paper, we propose an fragmentation/merge (F/M)-based gated adaptive CoDel mechanism in TSN environment. Here, asynchronous packets containing non-time-sensitive asynchronous traffic can be transmitted in a period during which time-sensitive traffic is not transmitted. If there is no enough time to transmit asynchronous packet, then the asynchronous packet is fragmented and merged. The proposed method in this paper is analyzed with the OMNet++ based network simulator and the numerical results show that the proposed method provides the superior performance compared to the existing protocol.
