Abstract In this paper, the effect of third-order passive intermodulation distortion (PIMD) due to DL (Downlink) signal in FDD (Frequency Division Duplex) wireless communication system was compared. PIMD is an interference signal caused by non-linearity of passive device in radio communication environment, and increases the noise level of the receiver, thus reducing the quality of communication. In the simulation experiment, EVM is evaluated according to signal to noise ratio (SNR) and signal to interference ratio (SIR) when there are Gaussian noise and PIMD for the QPSK and 16QAM signaling LTE uplink signals. The experiments have confirmed that the performance of the repeater in the event of PIMD interference can be deteriorated. The results can provide a design guide for a PIMD canceller.
