Abstract |
The wireless sensor network consists of a member node, a cluster head, and a base station within the sensor field. Sensor nodes are generally energy limited, and most of them are difficult to recharge in a wireless sensor network environment. Therefore, extending the life of a wireless sensor network is a critical issue. There are several energy-efficient, hierarchical routing protocols designed specifically for wireless sensor networks, such as LEACH. This paper proposes improvements to the LEACH routing protocol to reduce energy consumption and extend network life. Clusters should be configured using techniques to determine the optimal cluster considering the number of clusters. The following simulation results show that the algorithm is superior to the existing LEACH algorithm for energy efficiency and network expansion. |
