Abstract Integral Sliding Mode Controllers(ISMC) constructed in discrete control systems have a problem called chattering due to the constraints of the control period and various nonlinear elements. By using adaptive notch filters, chattering can be alleviated but due to the influence of notch filters, Lyapunov stability cannot be guaranteed. To solve these problems, we proposed a Limited Difference Notch Filter(LDNF) structure which satisfies Lyapunov stability. To verify the effectiveness of the proposed structure, it is applied to field-oriented control system of Surface-mounted Permanent-Magnet Synchronous Motors(SPMSM) and compared with ISMC and ISMC with only adaptive notch filters. Simulation results show that the system with the proposed Limited Difference Notch Filter alleviates chattering by 75% and guarantees stability.
