Abstract |
In this paper, we propose a method to effectively delay the Burn-In of an OLED display. Burn-In caused by the short lifespan of an OLED display is pointed out as a disadvantage of OLED display. Most of the Burn-In occurs in the broadcasting company logo area. The reason is that logos are displayed at the same location for each channel with high luminance. Since viewers perceive the Burn-In through the relative deterioration of the logo area, preventing the Burn-In phenomenon of the logo area can extend the overall lifespan of the OLED display. In previous studies, logos were compensated by lowering the luminance of the logo by a specific ratio. In this paper, we propose a new logo compensation method using the color difference between logo and background area. The proposed method has the advantage of being less affected by changes in the surrounding area than the existing compensation method, minimizing the deterioration of the recognition of the logo, and delaying the Burn-In as much as possible. |
