Abstract |
Wireless transceivers include a power limiter using high-voltage PIN diodes to protect unwanted strong electromagnetic signals, interference signals, etc. When a considerably large signal is applied to the power limiter, the PIN diode is turn-on. At this time, the power limiter changes to a low-impedance and protects the receiver by reflecting most of the signal. PIN diodes can effectively limit large power with lower series resistance (Rs). We propose a structure with a barrier metal removed to reduce the RS of the PIN diode. We compared the electrical characteristics of the proposed diode and the general structure using barrier metal. |
