Title Development of 5G Mobile Terminals Equipped with OPC UA Middleware and Verification for Smart Factory Environment

Abstract This study examines 5G sub-6 GHz and millimeter wave (mmWave) band frequency support terminals equipped with open platform communication unified architecture (OPC UA) middleware which is an international industry standard protocol. To this end, we first implement each part of the software platform in the 5G mobile communication terminals. Next, an OPC UA middleware and a central server are implemented to support communication among the various 5G devices in the smart factory. Finally, all the designed software platforms and OPC UA middleware are embedded into the manufactured 5G communication terminal hardware, and the performance of the terminals is evaluated through the experiments. As a result, the maximum transmission rate, reliability, and data processing speed of the 5G sub-6 GHz band support terminal shows 1.3 Gbps, 3.34% BLER (block error rate), and 101 TPS (transaction per second).
