Abstract In this letter, a novel design of frequency selective surface(FSS) is presented for wide-band 5G application at millimeter-wave frequency bands (n257: 26.5~29.5GHz). The FSS structure consists of cross dipole and slot elements, and was designed by the equivalent circuit method. This proposed FSS was fabricated on a single layer metal plate for high-frequency, low-loss TLY-5(εr=2.2, tanδ=0.0009), which was composed of 50×50(15×15cm2) unit cells(3×3mm2). According to the simulations, the FSS through EM (electromagnetic) wave incident at degrees between 0°~30° for TE and TM polarizations, the frequency deviations were not exceeded 3.4% and achieve stable angular stability. Finally, the prototype of this FSS structure is fabricated and experimentally measured. The experimental measurement results have shown a good agreement with the full wave simulations and equivalent circuit analysis.
