Abstract |
The paper proposes a surge protective device for protecting high-resolution SDI (Serial Digital Interface) video signals used in CCTV (Closed-Circuit Television) and video equipment from surges. Typically, lightning generates high currents ranging from several kA to several hundred kA, and this can result in induced overvoltages on video signal cables due to electromagnetic coupling or ground potential rise. This may lead to product damage or malfunction, necessitating the need for surge protective devices to prevent it. The proposed surge protective device is validated and analyzed by subjecting it to induced lightning currents of 1-5kA and testing residual voltages. Additionally, insertion loss was measured across the frequency range of 180 MHz to 1.485 GHz, confirming excellence with a result below 1.5 dB. The surge protective device proposed in this paper is expected to be beneficial for surge protection of high-resolution video signals, such as SD-SDI(Serial Digital Interface), HD-SDI, and 3G-SDI. |
