Abstract In this paper, we suggest a production scheduler for dyeing processes that minimizes energy costs, considering batch preprocessing operations and urgent orders. Dyeing processes are characterized by predetermined processes and treatment equipment according to customer order requirements, the type and weight of the fabric. In actual dyeing operations, field workers create a work list through batch preprocessing operations, dividing the order quantity of the dyeing products considering the capacity of the dyeing machines, so that a single task order number corresponds to a single weight processed by one dyeing machine at a time. Additionally, due to the nature of the dyeing industry, when urgent orders arise, it is common practice to prioritize and process these urgent orders first. Therefore, this paper derives a production scheduling model that optimizes due date compliance and energy costs, considering batch preprocessing operations and urgent orders, reflecting the actual operational conditions in the field. Consequently, the result of the production scheduler simulation experiment demonstrated that it is possible to create a production schedule which can meet delivery dates including urgent order, and reduce energy costs.
