Abstract |
This paper proposes a novel CMOS transmitter using impulse radio ultra-wideband (IR-UWB) technique that achieves a data rate of over 1 Gbps. The transmitter employs a modulation scheme based on pulse amplitude modulation 4 (PAM4) and is designed to operate in the frequency range of 3-10 GHz. By proposing a digital operation structure that does not use static current, the design complexity is reduced, thereby minimizing power consumption and chip area. This makes it efficiently applicable to various UWB applications. The proposed transmitter consumes an average power of 2.1 mW, has an output power of approximately -2 dBm in terms of peak power, and achieves a data rate of 1 Gbps. |
