Abstract |
As unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) become more widespread and equipped with communication capabilities, their applications are expanding into various fields, such as weather observation, natural disaster detection, traffic control, cargo transport, and network coverage extension. In particular, to extend network coverage, UAVs functioning as relays can be introduced into existing ground networks to support communication for UAVs located far from ground base stations. This paper proposes an efficient detection technique in an aerial communication uplink environment where multiple mission-UAVs transmit data to a single relay-UAV. The proposed detection technique sequentially applies minimum mean square error combining and message passing algorithm to simultaneously achieve the effects of interference cancellation and diversity due to joint decoding. Simulations have verified that the proposed detection technique can maximize frequency sharing among users while achieving excellent bit error rate performance. |
