Abstract In this paper, we study the optimal way to create various resolutions with less data and processing time for large amounts of data of 3D point cloud streaming. To this end, downsampling is performed to appropriately reduce the number of point cloud data, and transmission data with multiple versions of resolution suitable for real-time changing wireless transport channel environments are implemented by combining various encoding compression rates of video-based point cloud compression (V-PCC), and the final amount of transmission data and processing time are compared. Before performing downsampling, we examined through experiments whether using sorting performs better. Through this, we consider downsampling and compression strategies with low transmission data volume and low processing time and high resolution for real-time 3D point cloud streaming services.
