| Abstract |
This paper presents a cryogenic energy-scalable comparator designed for image sensors in space telescopes. The proposed comparator maintains the fast comparison speed, high current efficiency (gm/ID), and intrinsic common-mode rejection ability of conventional floating inverter amplifier (FIA), while incorporating the energy scalability of voltage-controlled oscillator (VCO)-based comparators. The proposed comparator is implemented in an 11-bit cryo-CMOS SAR ADC, which is designed in 65 nm CMOS, and it achieves an SNDR of 65.2 dB and a Schreier FoM (FoMS) of 174 dB at a sampling rate of 5 MS/s. |
