Abstract The purpose of this study is to evaluate the geometric influence of reinforcement bar on the apparent resistivity measurement above reinforcement as a method of the evaluation of durability in reinforced concrete structure. The Resistivity Estimation Model (REM) as a estimation model expresses the potential distribution in two media having different resistivity by the mirror method. This model was concerned with the concrete cover depth for the reinforcement, diameter of reinforcing bars, and electrode intervals as geometric factors with the resistivity of concrete and reinforcement. The validity of the model for estimating the apparent resistivity measured on an inhomogeneous medium was verified through experimental research for specimens with variables such as cover depth, bar diameter and use of reinforcement. Therefore, this model is therefore expected to provide a new approach method to estimate reinforcement corrosion for laboratory research and field diagnosis in concrete structures.
