Abstract |
This paper describes the compressive behavior of reinforced recycled coarse aggregate (RCA) concrete columns. The ready mixed concrete with specified compressive strength of 40 MPa were prepared with different replacement percentages (i.e., 0%, 30%, 60% and 100%) of RCA. The absorptivity and density of RCA used in this study were 3.01% and 2.48 g/cm3, respectively. Four RCA concrete columns were manufactured and tested under axial load. The specimens consisted of full-scale 400 mm × 400 mm × 1,800 mm columns. In this study, the compressive behavior of the RCA concrete columns is described in terms of crack patterns, load-displacement relationship and comparison of the provision of KCI code. Test results indicate that compressive strength of RCA concrete columns showed higher than that of KCI code provided. Therefore the provision of KCI code for axial members can be applied for design of RCA concrete columns.
