Abstract |
This study confirms the feasibility and performance as a substitute for existing high-cost fine aggregate of 150 MPa Ultra high strength concrete mixed with steel fiber by using LCD glass powder, a high quality industrial waste products generated from the manufacturing process in Korea’s LCD industry. The LCD fine powder has a chemical composition similar to that of fine aggregate (silica sand) and smaller particle size. LCD powders were used to replace Silica Sand with replacement rates of 10 %, 20 %, 30 % and 40 % and the mechanical properties of concrete were evaluated through experiments. According to the results, as the replacement rate increased, the viscosity of the concrete increased in addition, the slump flow and the air content related to the workability decreased. The compressive strength and splitting tensile strength were beneficial to strength up to 20 % at the early age of 7 days, but the replacement rate of only 10 % was slightly higher at 28 days of age. The strength decreased with increasing substitution rate in 56 days. In the future, if LCD powder with control of the particle size distribution of the powder according to the purpose, it is expected that it can be used in ultra high strength concrete materials.
