Abstract In this study, in order to address thermal bridging and condensation issues, a vertical thermal bridge barrier system was developed. The purpose of this research was to assess the structural integrity of thermal bridge solutions in 3D wall connections intended for use in multi-residential buildings. Four test specimens were employed to analyze structural performance, both with and without an H-type stainless steel reinforcing system, and in the presence of a ultra-high performance concrete (UHPC) shear key system. The test findings demonstrated a considerable improvement in maximum vertical loading strength due to the application of the UHPC and the shear key system, with increases of 2.5 and 3.1 times, respectively. Furthermore, a simulation process was conducted using a FEM program to validate the experimental results and explore parametric studies. All the test and analytical findings indicate that the proposed thermal heat bridge insulation systems offer sufficient strength and stiffness to withstand the vertical loads applied to wall and slab connection points.
