Title Failure Behavior of RC Sewer Manhole Structures Strengthened with NSM CFRP Strips

Abstract The purpose of this study was to investigate the effectiveness of strengthening RC sewer manhole structures reinforced with NSM CFRP strips. To accomplish this objective, a total of four prototype concrete manhole members were made and tested. From this study, it is found that the flexural stiffness and strength of the members reinforced with NSM strips were significantly improved compared to the manhole member without CFRP reinforcing. The maximum increase ultimate strength of top slab of manhole structure was the value 242 %, in the case of the members reinforced with NSM CFRP strips on the side of slab and walls. It is shown that the slab of manhole members with NSM strips were able to sufficiently control cracks and observed only small contents of micro cracks and the cracks did not developed and progressed further.
