Abstract |
The high moisture and organic contents of food wastes from the residential sources are an obstacle factor for the waste disposal and energy recovery process such as incineration and pyrolysis. In addition, the anaerobic nightsoil treatment plants in this country are experienced with a decreasing waste load due to the rapid conversion toward the modern toilet system. In order to overcome these difficulties, the application of the anaerobic treatment using the mixture of nightsoil and food wastes would be an alternative treatment process. This study was therefore focused to determine design parameters for the anaerobic treatment for nightsoil and food waste mixture. The experimental results indicated that treatment efficiencies measured by VS and COD reductions, gas productions and gas portions were varied with organic loadings and mixture ratios of nightsoil to food waste. |
