Quantative Evaluation of Self - Purification considered from Nitrification and Denitrification process in a Tidal river |
Abstract |
A mathematical model of nitrification and denitrification process in a tidal river was developed using lagragian coordinates. Using the developed model nitrification and denitrification process in suspended solids and sediments was quantatively evaluated in the tidal reach of Rokkaku river, Japan. From this study, it was concluded that nitrification was affected by the change of suspended solid concentration during spring-neap tidal cycles, and that the decrease in concentration of nitrate in water body was caused by denitrification process in the anoxic condition of sediment. |
