Abstract |
As the quality of water resources is getting poorer, an advanced water treatment process could be considered. This study is to examine how pre-ozonation affects the following coagulation process in conventional water treatment system. The water sample used in the study was obtained from Asan reservoir which was eutrophicated and highly polluted. Pre-ozonation reduced alkalinity and algal concentration, but increased turbidity and SS. As that result, coagulant dose requirement could be reduced from 24㎎ Al^(31)/L without ozonation to 18.5㎎ Al^(31) /L with ozonation. Also sludge production was reduced about 16%. In addition, ozonation was more effective with short contact time(about 5 minutes) and low concentration(about 3.2㎎ O₃/min). |
