Abstract |
The activated sludge from municipal Sewage treatment process was immobilized by entrapment with polyethylene glycol(PEG). and various factors on the removal of NH₄-N from synthetic sewage were investigated with batch and continuous reactors. A higher removal rate of NH₄-N were observed when the Smaller bead size and more visual volume of the immobilized beads were used. The removal time of NH₄-N decreased with increasing of temperature, and the NH₄-N removal efficiency of 64% could achieved at the low temperature(10℃) with the immobilized activated sludge. The relative activities of the immobilized activated sludge after 7 runs of repeated reactions increased about 2.68 times as that of the first reaction. The removal efficiency of NH₄-N with the immobilized activated sludge was 98% at the HRT of 24 hours in the continuous nitrification reactor. The denitrification increased with increasing of the HRT in the continuous removal process combined with oxic(immobilized beads) and anoxic(activated sludge) reactor. The average removal efficiencies of total nitrogen and COD at the HRT of 24 hours were 55.4% and 94% respectively, in the continuous denitrfication process. |
