Title A Study on the Space Organization of the Residential Facilityfor the Aged with Dementia

Abstract This study was to examine and analyze the space programming and organization of the residential facilityfor the aged with dementia through the cases of Korea and Japan, to set up the elements of spacial composition, tocalculate the area ratio of unit space, and to find the layout method of unit space. As a result, the element of spacialcomposition were composed of residential, public, medical, management, and path. The area ratio of the unit spacewere residential 24~27%, public 26~27%, medical 9~10%, management 14~18%, and path 18~20%. The differencebetween Koreans and Japans were showed the area of medical and office management. In the arrangement of unitspace, the area of office managements were arranged at the 1st floor, the area of facility management were arrangedat the basement, public area were arranged at every floor adjacent to residential unit. Mean area of residential unitper man was Korea 6.6~8.4m2, Japan 8.2~17.3m2.
