Abstract This paper concentrated on the measurement and evaluation of reverberation time in residential buildings.Measurements were conducted in a total of 44 rooms (36 rooms were in occupied houses and 8 rooms were in unoc-cupied houses) according to KS F 2864 (ISO 3382) and the results of several factors were analyzed. The resultsshowed that the averaged reverberation times of the occupied and the unoccupied houses were about 0.3~0.5sec and1.2~1.5sec, respectively, at 500Hz octave band frequency. The reverberation times generally depended on the fre-quency; the lower the frequency, the higher the reverberation time. In addition, we verified that the reverberation timewhich measured by integrated impulse response method was larger than that by interrupted noise method. And thecorrection values using the measured reverberation times for evaluating of sound insulation in terms of normalized andstandardized level difference were compared.
