Title A Survey on Perception Level of Tuberculosis Among Hospital Cleaners

Abstract The purpose of this study is to investigate knowledge, attitude and practice level about tuberculosis forcleaners who are working in hospitals where they are more liable to infection and to provide basic data for tuberculosismanagement of them. The subjects of this study were 120 cleaners who are working for 3 general hospitals. The toolswere made up 38 questionnaires and its reliability was Cronbach’s α=.88. Data analysis was done by using of SPSS/WIN 11.0 giving 1 point on the correct response and 0 point both on incorrect response and don’t know. As a result,1. Knowledge on tuberculosis was lower than average with the average score of 6.24 (infection 2.15, prevention 0.98,diagnosis 2.08, treatment 1.04). Attitude on tuberculosis scored at 4.66 and practice level showed low score with 5.43.2. The significant difference of knowledges on tuberculosis were sex, work career, clean of tuberculosis patient's room,contact of tuberculosis patient; attitudes were sex, religion, education; practices were sex, age, national health service,monthly pay, clean of tuberculosis patient’s room, contact of tuberculosis patient, infectious knowledge within hospitals.3. The score between knowledge and attitude(r=.591, p<.000), knowledge and practice(r=.526, p<.000), attitude andpractice(r=.463, p<.000) showed a significantly positive correlation. In order to lower tuberculosis infection and incur-rence rate, systematic and complicated publicity and education that give correct understanding of its knowledge andimportance of its practice is required.
