Abstract |
Construction workers have been working with loss of efficiency and threatening their health for heat stress in summer. Nevertheless, work clothes for them have not been developed yet in terms of alleviation of heat stress. So, to solve this problem, it was worked out some clothing and evaluated their effects on physiological responses and subjective sensation using following two steps: climatic chamber test and field test. 4 healthy men in climatic chamber test and 3 workers in construction field test participated. The results were as follows. First, in the climatic chamber, increase was the highest in control, Tre increase was high in A, B and C and increase was the highest in B. Heart rate was the lowest in B (p<.05) and weight loss and heat storage were the lowest in D. Second, in field test, most of physiological responses were lower in D-2 than in control such as skin temperature, clothing microclimate and heart rate (p=.000). Subjective sensations were also reported as cooler and more comfortable in D-2 than in control. The results showed that a new work clothes (D and D-2) is efficient for reducing heat stress. However, further study should be performed about safety and durability of work clothes because this study is attempted to alleviate heat stress in terms of thermal comfort. |
