Abstract The purposes of this research are to make data for maintaining the required illuminance level and the number of luminares throughout a room. To do this research, establishing the point by point method and lumen method and comparing the experimental and theoretical values are required. The procedure of this study is, first, to set up the point by point method for determining illuminance at a specific point and the lumen method for calculating average illuminance on the work plane. The procedure of this study is, second, to develop computer simulation that can determine illuminance at a specific point and to validate the accuracy of the computer simulation through measurements. Third, in rooms with no obstruction ,horizontal obstruction and the inverted “V” planes on the ceiling, it is to calculate the number of luminairs by using the lumen method and to determine illuminance at a specific piont on the work plane by using the point by point method. The results using above procedures are applied to find the illuminance and uniformity illuminance on the work plane.
