Abstract |
Dedicated Outdoor Air System (DOAS) coupled with a parallel sensible cooling system could be a promising alternative to conventional variable air volume system for building ventilation. Because dedicated outdoor air system provides 100% outdoor air for ventilation, indoor air quality of building is improved and any contaminants released inside the building are not transported to other parts of building. The purpose of this study is to investigate both energy and indoor air quality performance of dedicated outdoor system. The results show that the dedicated outdoor air system not only maintains constant indoor temperature and relative humidity, thermal comfort environment but also exhausts more air contaminants than variable air volume system from the conditioning space. Total energy use of two types of dedicated outdoor air system are reduced by 47% and 16.5% respectively. |
