Abstract There have been efforts to get rid of basic model approach of architect centering around obstetrics according to environmental changes in architecture of Obstetrics and Gynecology hospital, pediatrics, dermatology, plastic surgery, oriental medicine, and so forth. Centering around Gwangju Metropolitan City and Jellabuk-do, the hospitals specialized in Obstetrics and Gynecology, which were constructed after 2000s, and those differentiate hospitals specialized in Obstetrics and Gynecology from the conventional concept that mixed with other diagnostic departments different from gynecology without practicing obstetric diagnosis were selected as the subjects of this research. And the results from survey are as follows: First, as shown in the configuration of floors, characteristics of the hospitals specialized in the department of Obstetrics and Gynecology were located in the heart of the city, so that, considering the restriction of land lot and in order to make best use of functional configuration therein, hospital buildings were vertical, restraining from being constructed under the ground, and the hospitals tended to be placed in the higher floors in the high rise building rather than located in low rise building.
