Abstract The purpose of this paper is to review the recent progress in indoor thermal environment field, and to offer the significant information for the establishment of research subject. Referred papers have been appeared in related journals (international, Korean and Japanese) which was published in 2006 and 2007. Various methods such as field measurement, climate chamber and simulation have been used, and a few studies about development of thermal manikin have been performed for indoor thermal comfort researches. The HVAC systems such as under floor air conditioning and individual air conditioning have been developed for improving indoor thermal comfort. The researches of utilizing passive control method such as double skin has been carried out. And estimating the thermal sense of whole or partial body have also been studied. The researches which is introduced in this paper could contribute to improve indoor thermal comfort and energy saving.
