Abstract This study aims to evaluate the effect of forced ventilation method on condensation prevention in Iglooshaped ammunition depot by field experiment. Condensation on the concrete surface and cartridge surface in Iglooshaped ammunition depot during the summer can cause rust on the cartridge surface and problem in ammunition peformance. Therefore the field experiment was performed to prevent condensation by increasing surface temperatures of structure and ammunition higher than dew point through forced ventilation during the summer when outdoor temperature becomes higher than indoor temperature of ammunition depot. 8400 CMH forced exhaust fan was installed to introduce outdoor air quantity equivalent to the heat storage of structural bodies. The results of this study are follows; (1) Forced ventilation is judged to be necessary because natural ventilation fan can't increase indoor temperature. (2) The assumption on heat storage used for field experiment was verified as proper. (3) The optimal locations of exhaust and supply to decide air flow should be considered to enhance ventilation effect.
