Abstract This study is to investigate the effect of 12 weeks of walking exercise program on body composition and physical self-consciousness of 40 obese women. First, there was significant difference in body composition between before and after the program was practiced such as decrease in weight, BMI, waist size, hip size with increase in muscle mass. Secondly, there was significant difference in physical self-description as follows; decrease in body fat and increased confidence appearance, physical activity, flexibility, endurance, muscular strength. Therefore this walking exercise program shows the positive effects in physical self-description and body composition and hereafter the program can give positive and efficient effects on obese women by using diverse walking programs that vary in frequency, time, and intensive training. Such programs should be recommended to improve their health conditions. Also, the effect of aerobic and resistance exercises practiced with the walking exercise seems worth inspecting.
