Abstract |
This study aims to investigate the level of job stress among home healthcare nurse specialists(HHNS). The respondents of the study are 142 home healthcare nurse specialists who work at a registered Hospital in Korea Home Healthcare Nurse Association. They are chosen randomly and completed a self report questionnaire, yielding a 71.7% response rate via mail. In order to determine the level of work related stress among home healthcare nurse specialists, the researcher investigated the following areas: lack of sufficient knowledge in home healthcare, visiting patients' home location, stressful overwork, shortage of staff support, role conflicts, ethical conflicts, personal relations, and patients' home surroundings. Among the aforementioned stress subcategories, the lack of expert knowledge ranks first with a score of 3.86(total score 5), while patients' home surrounding ranks last with a 3.18 rating. Further, statistical result showed that the average home healthcare nurse specialists' job stress level is at 3.48. The work position was significant variable. The researcher concludes that to lessen home healthcare nurse specialists job stress; multiple advanced educational programs should be developed first, then supplemented by sharing knowledge of experts in this area. In addition to these programs, we have to improve their work environment by building up support system such as personnel, salary and benefits. |
