Abstract This study aimed to look into the effect of the death anxiety (DA) on quality of life (QOL) among the elderly people. A convenient sample of 156 persons over 65 years old who reside in S city, Gyeonggi-do was interviewed. The questionnaire made up sociodemographic factor (SDF)(9), DA(15) and QOL(29). Data were analyzed by descriptive statistics, t-test, F-test, Scheffe test, Pearson correlation, and multiple regression using SPSS 12.0. Participants's scores on the DA were negatively correlated with scores on the QOL (r = ?0.33, p = 0.000). However, we don't found that QOL among the elderly people was predicted by DA with statistically significance. It was concluded that QOL in older people were much more influenced by their family relationship, health status, economy status rather than DA at living life the here and now. It is required replication with well-designed, careful consideration on sample size. Also it is recommended path analysis to showing specific relation on SDF, DA and QOL among the elderly people.
