Abstract Box window installed with fan, which this thesis aims to investigate, has a normal external envelop and an internal envelop. On internal glass layer, the fan was installed to control the airflow. On external glass layer, openings were installed. This study is investigate about effects of Fan Installed Box Window (FIBW) to indoor thermal environment and to suggest efficient form by predicting the supplied air temperature variation from FIBW. The measurement was conducted on winter. In order to compare the thermal environment with a room having normal window, two rooms were built. One room had FIBW and the other had a typical window. Using Fluent 6.0, air flow in cavity of FIDW were analyzed that is based on measurement. As results, the room ventilated through a FIBW was always kept warmer than the other room. Especially during day time, the indoor temperature increased highly enough to avoid the need of extra heating in the room ventilated through a FIBW. On simulation, the supplied air by FIBW was circulated through the cavity and the temperature was influenced by air change rate, distance between fan and opening in exteranl envelope and size of opening.
