Title The Effects of Pilrates Mat Exercise Program on the Blood Lipid and Stress Hormone in Type 2 Diabetic Elderly Patients

Abstract For this study, pilates mat exercise program was implemented to twenty type 2 diabetes elderly female patients who took oral hypoglycemic agent by three times a week, 60 min a day, and for 24 weeks. The results of this study are as following. First, There was a meaningful difference in all of exercise group as a result of comparison of two groups difference with an individual view since LDL-C, total cholesterol and TG were decreased and HDL-C was increased. Second, there was a meaningful difference in norepinephrine and epinephrine of exercise group as a result of comparison of two groups differences with an individual view since norepinephrine and epinephrine were decreased, however, there was no significant difference in cortisol. Considering the study results above, though 24 weeks pilates mat exercise program didn't have an effect on the improvement cortisol of type 2 diabetes elderly female patients, as there was a positive effect in the blood lipids, epinephrine and norepinephrine. it is considered that pilates mat exercise program could have a positive effect on the improvement of quality of life of diabetes elderly female patients through their health.
