Abstract It is important for child care centers to investigate characteristic of indoor air quality (IAQ) because they perform education and day care for children who usually have weak immunity. Nevertheless, there is insufficient research being done, given its importance. This study aims to investigate the characteristics of indoor pollutants' concentration according to the architecture and management methods in child care center. Also it aims to secure data which can be used for further researches. Measurements were performed for air temperature, relative humidity, carbon dioxide, fine particle mass, formaldehyde and volatile organic compounds. Temperature, humidity and CO2 were measured 30 times (1 min/time) and PM10 was measured 10 times (3 min/time). Formaldehyde and volatile organic compounds were measured and analyzed based on The Indoor Air Quality Official Test Method. Architecture and management factors can effects on IAQ were corrected. The results show that the CO2 was found to be the main pollutants as its concentration exceeded the IAQ standard. The PM10 concentration tended to be higher as building completion year longer and concentrations of HCHO and TVOC tended to be lower as refurbishment date longer. All indoor air pollutants were higher in small occupancy room than than in large occupancy room, were low in operating air purifier rooms.
