Abstract |
This study aims to investigate the emission rate of pollutants from furniture with different surface finishing materials. Generally, furniture is made of particle board(PB) and medium density fiberboard(MDF) as bodies and doors of furniture respectively. In this study, three different kinds of surface finishing materials with same emission rate of formaldehyde of base board(PB and MDF respectively) were selected and 32 specimens were analyzed according to the small-scale chamber method. The surface finishing types of PB were finishing foil, poly paper and PVC(poly vinyl chloride) and those of MDF were matt painting, high glossy painting and patterned lumber. In case of PB, specimens finished with poly paper emitted less TVOC and formaldehyde than the others. And MDF specimens finished with patterned lumber emitted less TVOC than the painting-type specimens. |
