Abstract |
The aim of the present study was to investigate effect of sport for all participation on physical fitness, cognitive function and quality of life in elderly women. The subjects were the 63-70 years old seniors who participated in gate ball exercise program at health promotion center and had been divided into gate ball group (n = 12) and control group (n = 15). Gate ball exercise was performed four per week for 12 weeks at only about one hour. Both groups were measured factors before and after 12 weeks of gate ball participation. Subjects were measured the isokinetic peak torque of the knee extensors and flexors, balance. After 12 weeks gate ball, Subjects were tested cognitive function and quality of life using the 36-item short form health survey. After 12 weeks gate ball, The peak torque was no significant difference in between two groups. However, Balance ability was significantly difference between two groups. In cognitive function, there were no significance on deduction, problem, solving and capacity of information process in two groups, but there was significantly difference between two groups. In quality of life, there were no significance in physical functioning, role limitation-physical, role limitation-emotional, mental health, and vitality, but there were significance on social functioning, bodily pain, and general health in between groups. The result suggested that gate ball exercise participation has effective to improve the balance ability, social functioning, bodily pain and general health in elderly woman. |
