Abstract |
This study was to investigate the effect of Ionized alkali mineral complex (IAMC) supplementation on cytokines and immunoglobulins during exhaustive treadmill running in swimmers. In a cross-over design, all the subjects had oral supplementations of both IAMC and tap water (TW) in a random order fashion for two weeks. On the experiment day, all the subjects were reported to the laboratory with an overnight fasting. The subjects consumed either another volume (250 ml) of TW or IAMC and rested for 40 minutes in a comfortable resting position, with 20 ml of venous blood sampling collected from an anti cutibal vein. Then each subject run on a motor-driven treadmill until a volitional exhaustion. Additional venous blood samples were taken immediately after and 24 hour after the treadmill running. From this study, First, Following two-week dietary IAMC supplementation, we found a significant time by group interactions in TNF-α (p = 0.039) such that blood levels of significantly lower in IAMC supplementation than TW supplementation and IgG (p = 0.008), IgM (p = 0.001) such that blood levels of significantly higher in IAMC supplementation than TW supplementation. Second, Following high intensity exhaustive treadmill exercise after twoweek dietary IAMC supplementation, we found a significant time by group interactions in TNF-α (p = 0.038) and IgA (p = 0.038). Compared to TW, IAMC supplementation tended to be effective in resilience of 24 hr post-exercise on cytokine (TNF-α, IL-6) and immumoglobulins (IgG, IgA, IgM). In summary, Two-week dietary IAMC supplementation induces positive effects of TNF-α, IgG and IgM. Also two-week dietary IAMC supplementation induces positive effects of cytokine and immumoglobulins on 24 h after exhaustive treadmill running. |
