Abstract The purpose of this study was to find the difference on static balance(stability), muscular strength(flexion and extension) and flexibility of trunk in adolescent idiopathic scoliosis through comparing normal students. Fifty-one adolescent subject were participated in this study(scoliosis group; twenty-five, normal group; twenty-six). Data were analyzed with independent t-test using SPSS program. The results showed that there was no significant difference in static balance ability(stability) and also in flexor(60°/sec, 120°/sec), extensor(60°/sec) and flexibility(flexion, extension) of trunk between the two groups. But, there are statistically significant difference in trunk extensor power at 120°/sec. From this result, we have recognized the characteristics of adolescent idiopathic scoliosis patients, and we believe that these findings may lead us to treat the scoliosis patients in a way we have not tried before
