Abstract |
The purpose of this study was to find the difference on static balance(stability), muscular strength(flexion and extension) and flexibility of trunk in adolescent idiopathic scoliosis through comparing normal students. Fifty-one adolescent subject were participated in this study(scoliosis group; twenty-five, normal group; twenty-six). Data were analyzed with independent t-test using SPSS program. The results showed that there was no significant difference in static balance ability(stability) and also in flexor(60°/sec, 120°/sec), extensor(60°/sec) and flexibility(flexion, extension) of trunk between the two groups. But, there are statistically significant difference in trunk extensor power at 120°/sec. From this result, we have recognized the characteristics of adolescent idiopathic scoliosis patients, and we believe that these findings may lead us to treat the scoliosis patients in a way we have not tried before |
